Few months ago we launched the first beta version of our 3D design and modeling software 3DGxPaint. We are excited to announce that during the last months we have been silently introducing important improvements and new functionalities!
That’s why, we would like to invite you to try the improved version for free and tell us about your experience! Here is a list of the most important software upgrades:
- Mirror functionality gives you the option to introduce symmetric changes on both sides of an object. While you are creating one half of a model, exactly the same changes are being reflected on the other side.
WebRTC has been implemented in order to control congestion and information flow and reduce latency.
SVG Menus. Menus containing Scalable Vector Graphics have been removed in order to improve the overall performance.
Paint Tool: in order to paint an object, now you can directly choose the color by making double-click on the circle at the top left corner of the screen.
- Translate, Rotate, Scale. You can activate this functionality by pressing Ctrl and the right mouse button. Then, the 3D axis X, Y and Z will appear on the object. At the top right corner, you will see the 3 options represented by its initial letters (T: Translate, R: Rotate and S: Scale). The most important improvement here is that now the rotation is made gradually, by following a 45 degrees’ movement.
- Social Networks Buttons that allow you to share your pieces of art with the rest of the world. For the moment, you can show your designs to your Facebook friends and Twitter followers but more possibilities will come soon.
- We have fixed additional small bugs and improved the speed.
If you have never used a 3D modeling software, to get started with 3DGxPaint, you only have to sign up with your email address, there’s no need to download. Then, if you feel lost, you have some videos in our home page that will give you an idea about what you can do with 3DGxPaint.
Basically, you can begin by choosing one of the default objects, by uploading your own model or by starting from scratch. If you don’t feel inspired, you can invite some friends or colleagues and create a piece of art together. As they say “team work makes the dream work”!
Then you will discover a variety of tools that will allow you to raise, dig, grab, smooth or paint. You will be also able to reduce or increase the strength or the size of the tool to obtain the desired effect.
If you start from zero, you have some geometric shapes that you can combine, intersect, subtract and edit in order to obtain your own creation. After that, you can save your models in the cloud and have access to them whenever and wherever you have a web browser and Internet connection. Of course, you can also download them in STL, OBJ or PLY format.
Last but not least important, you can manipulate the digital objects by moving your hands in the air, in front of the screen, by using Leap Motion Controller. And we also support Oculus Rift virtual reality glasses. And everything for FREE!
New improvements will be made public soon so stay tuned and do not hesitate to ask us any questions you may have!
